Officer Chris Burkhardt, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana, Lifesaver & HERO!
Officer Chris Burkardt of Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison County, Indiana is a true hometown hero! On April 28, 2013, Officer Chris Burkhardt received the call regarding a possible heart attack and turned his patrol vehicle around to respond near Pendleton, Indiana. Fortunately, he arrived within minutes and used the AED he had in his patrol car to administer a shock to Randy Miller’s heart (my father). Because of his actions and training, he literally saved my father’s life! That’s a hero! Officer Chris Burkhardt, we are grateful every day for your training and service and for saving my dad’s life! We are also grateful for Community Hospital of Anderson, Indiana for donating the AED devices in a program called Madison County SAVES, which was one of the devices that Officer Chris Burkhardt had in his patrol vehicle that night. Additional notes regarding the photos: A very special thanks to Community Hospital of Anderson Indiana & Dale Pickett photography for providing the photos, as they are not my own and were featured in the Spring 2019 edition of Community Magazine, found on page 6.
